I DON’T SEE ANY MACRO LENSES FOR MIRRORLESS CAMERAS. i’M USING KENKO EXTENSION TUBES. ARE THERE MACRO LENSES? WILL CAMERAS FOCUS AS RAPIDLY WITH EXTENSION TUBES?

    • Depending on the mirrorless system, there may or may not be native options for macro lenses. I shoot Sony E-mount and the last time I checked, there were only two native macro lenses available. MFT may have more options if that’s what you’re using, but I’m not sure. My solution was to use adapters and shoot with legacy lenses. My workhorse is a Vivitar Series 1 105mm Macro in Canon FD mount adapted to Sony E-mount.

None of my lenses have AF capability–they’re all 30 or 40 years old. Based on my reading, even if one’s lens does have AF, one will still want to focus manually. DoF is so thin, and critical focus so important that AF may not be up to the task. If your Kenko tubes have electrical contacts and you’re using an AF lens, give AF a try and see how it works out–I could very well be wrong about it.
